Emilian Gatsov - Elbi

Emilian “Elbi” Gatsov is a Bulgarian composer and sound artist whose work moves fluidly between theatre, film, and contemporary dance. For over sixteen years, he has been crafting scores that combine experimental electronic textures with a cinematic sense of storytelling. His compositions have been featured in a wide range of productions, including the feature documentary I See Red People (2018) and acclaimed festival performances such as Perfectly Pink and Made for Happiness.

Elbi’s creative journey began in the world of experimental electronic music before expanding into theatre and dance, where his soundscapes became integral to live performance. Beyond music, he holds a degree in philosophy and writes essays and articles that reflect on art, society, and the ways sound shapes perception.

Known for his curiosity and intellectual rigor, Elbi brings a reflective, conceptual dimension to every project, whether composing for the stage, screen, or gallery space.

Elbi lives and works in Bulgaria. He speaks English, Spanish and Russian.
